Don't you guys just loved a wonderfully played twist ending? I just can't get enough. Here's some to get the ball rolling:

Evil Dead II: Whoa. That was so well done, especially the sudden cut to the credits. I might have put the original Army of Darkness ending here too, but since it wasn't final I won't.

The Usual Suspects: Need I say more? Kevin Spacey is SUCH a badass.

Dr. Stranglove: How's that for a thinker? This leaves you pondering the very things going on behind the Man's closed doors...

Yeah, Shymalan (spelling) always has some great endings. But someone told me he totally rips all his endings off someone else. Did anyone hear about this? Or was the guy who told me just a total smeghead?

Some endings that will stay with you forever:

Casablanca- take a stroll with Bogie
Apocalypse Now- PBR streetgang slinking away from Kurtz' compound
8 Women- Papa c'est MORT!
La Strada- If you don't cry, you're an unfeeling robot
Paths of Glory- If you don't cry, you're an unfeeling robot
Dr. Strangelove- "Mein Fuhrer, I can WALK!!" cue "We'll meet again"
Barry Lyndon- Redmond gets his just deserts
A Clockwork Orange- "I was cured allright"
Eyes Wide Shut- "Fuck"

I never saw Eyes Wide Shut, because it seems to have established that love-it-or-hate-it attitude, but I guess that's the way with all Kubrick movies. Here's some more:

Love & Death: "I got screwed!"

Akira: "I am...Tetsuo."

I love the film "Around the World in 80 Days". I got to see it again when at the hospital. It was on late one night and it was a comforting thing.

There is something haunting and compelling with the final shot from Nomads. While there isn't any great surprise, it has a strong emotional sense of torment that most people can relate to.

Anyone who saw Lars von Trier's Dancer in the Dark will never forget the ending.

It's bone-chilling.

Funny you should mention Dancer in the Dark as I'm watching it in film class tomorrow. I'll report back to see if I agree with you.

Brad Pitt in Seven had a shocker ending that really turned cop thriller mysteries up-side-down.

Shawshank Redemption - What a finish to one of the most underrated films

The Conversation - pure irony

Star Wars - "You're all clear, Kid!"

You've already mentioned two of my favorites in Strangelove and anything by Shyamalan.

The Red Violin - "The lab report came back..."

Dr. Zhivago - If only she looked out the window

Some Like it Hot - "NOBODY'S PERFECT!"

Body Heat - "...yes, it is hot..."

Christmas in July - "It's not the coffee; It's the bunk!"

Citizen Kane - I wouldn't give away the ending for all the tea in China!
