Many critics are comparing it to "Crimes and Misdemeanors," and to other classics, such as "Room at the Top" and "A Place in the Sun." Based on and inspired by a story by Dostoevsky, Allen does not appear in the film based in London. He is quoted as saying the film involves the quirey as to how much "luck" plays in our lives; stating: "People are afraid to admit how contingent their lives are on chance and luck."
