    Shohei Imamura dies

    A nice article on the great Japanese director who passed away yesterday in Tokyo. I love his movies (The Eel, Warm Water Under a Red Bridge, Black Rain, The Insect ... among many others). He will be missed....

    Indeed. Imamura will be missed. Eerie how I had no idea of his passing today at 3 a.m. when I mentioned him and his The Eel on my last post. I really hope we get a chance to watch Battle of Narayama, The Insect Woman, Pigs and Battleships and others still rather inaccessible here. I was lucky to find Eijanaika on import dvd last year. Imamura was one of a kind.

    That is sad. Imamura is one of the greats.
