    Good? and any DVD suggestions?

I am a big Hawking fan and yet I have not seen A Brief History of Time. Has anyone seen it? Recomend it? Hawking is such an amazing character that I can't imagine a film could do disservice to him even if it tried. So I'll probably rent it if I can find it.

On that note: Has anyone rented any Morris DVD'S? Extras for something like Thin Blue Line or Mr Death could be good.

I've seen A Brief History (own the VHS) and it's great with a capital G. The teacup theory in the film will stay with me for the rest of my life.. I don't think there are any Morris films/doc's on DVD yet. Too bad. He's a natural resource.

Other documentary filmmakers that must be seen:
Ron Mann (Twist, Grass, Comic Book Confidential)
    Ken Burns (Baseball, Jazz)
    Michael Moore
"Set the controls for the heart of the Sun" - Pink Floyd

Ken Burns seems a little plastic to me.
I liked Civil War but I thought his baseball piece was flacid.
I did not know that he did a Jazz piece. How was that?

Burns' Jazz is the last word on the subject. He covers EVERYTHING. Baseball was a little weak. I thought he put a lot of filler into that series. The editing was fine, tho.

    The Prisoner

My best sci-fi/espionage mini-series ever made. I love this mini-series. Patrick McGoohan is a terrific actor, director and writer and it shows in certain episodes. The new DVD box set is a definite purchase.

Great, will check it out. That's a subject for which I need some starting point.

Morris and Burns are great but I've enjoyed these as much or more than anything they've done.
    CRUMB by T. Zwigoff
VISIONS OF LIGHT:The art of cinematography
THE WONDERFUL, HORRIBLE LIFE OF LENI RIEFENSTAHL
    HOOP DREAMS
PARADISE LOST:Child murders at Robin Hood Hill
    PARADISE LOST 2: Revelations
THE GLEANERS AND I (Agnes Varda)
    4 LITTLE GIRLS (Lee)
    BROTHER'S KEEPER

I recommend these for rental or purchase. I have seen each
at least twice. The top 6 are essential viewing in my humble opinion.
