Exciting news! We just announced that Noah Cowan has been appointed Executive Director of San Francisco Film Society and will be taking the helm March 3. Cowan, a leader in facilitating and creating internationally-recognized film programming for more than two decades, will oversee the Film Society's expanding programs in exhibition, education and filmmaker services. Cowan joins us after five years at the helm of TIFF Bell Lightbox, the landmark cinema museum space in Toronto where he served as the facility's founding Artistic Director.

Previous directors:
Graham Leggat: 2005-2011 until he died of cancer in August 2011.
Bingham Ray served for only ten weeks before his death in January 2012
Ted Hope, who was hired in August 2012 but resigned.On January 8, 2014, Hope was named CEO of Fandor, a curated online service for independent and international films
