NOTE I've added another link:

For some actual footage of Milgrim's and Zimbardo's experiments closely followed by Alvarez see this half hour BBC film on YouTube.

This one presents sort of a promo for the two dubious experiments of Milgrim and Zimbardo. This topic is one that can be endlessly explored online and in books and shows it is widely misinterpreted and how many simply basically swallow Zimbardo's own version with a few caveats despite the experiment's violation of any scientific norm and his own obvious bias and lack of ethical restraint. I don't pretend to have the last word but I think Peter Gray and Konnikova provide essential perspective.

None of all this constitutes a critique of Alvarez's film's good young actors and provision of an intense experience, but it helps underline that the film doesn't go far enough beyond incomplete, uncritical reenactment.
