A More Contemplative Perspective
Chris is on to something in his commentary about this over the top Asian-American romantic comedy. As an Asian American, however, I found a lot more to enjoy and celebrate with its Asian-themed identity. But Chris notes with experience the rather distorted or exaggerated emphasis on luscious stereotypical (but not ethnic prejudicial typecasting) that supposedly the director, producers, or production companies either insisted on or believed crucial to bring more American audiences into the movie. This movie was entertaining, fun, and enjoyable, but yes, it could have been much more refined and loftier in its depiction of the Asian and Asian American experience.
