Some 2020 Oscar "Snubs"

MIDSOMMER, UNCUT GEMS, FAREWELL
For more information see IndieWire's "27 Great Movies Completely Rejected by the Oscars in 2020" HERE.
The Farewell some thought was a major "snub," but it's an Amierican film, though shot in China in Chinese. Obviously Portrait of a Lady on Fire, the French film by Céline Sciamma, was excluded since France put forward Les Misérables as their candidate. I can't comment on any of these since I haven't seen them yet.
It's not entirely surprising that the rough-to-watch Uncut Gems, with its unappealing hero, was omitted from any award nominations. It is not a people-pleaser film. But it is a big shame that Adam Sandler won't get even mentioned for his career best performance as an actor. How painful is that!
Some other "snubs" mostly make sense to me, since I was not a fan of Booksmart, didn't like the sound of Her Smell, Midsommer is, after all, a horror movie. . . and there are always snubs. The worst is when the best picture Oscar goes to the wrong film, as with Brokeback Mountain losing to Crash in 2006 - an Academy mistake I can never forgive.
