THE GLORIOUS ACCEPTANCE SPEECH OF NICOLAS CHAUVIN (Benjamin Crotty 2010)

Crotty, who was born in Spokane and went to Yale, is an expatriate avangardist filmmaker who's become French, like Eugene Green. Here he dramatizes the legendary Napoleonic rural soldier who gave us the word "chauvinism" in a long riff that's like Nouvelle Vague meets Monty Python. The actor is Alexis Manenti, who subsequently became famous for costarring as the white racist cop in the Cannes prize-winning movie of last year, LES MISERABLES.
