    Zhang Yimou's HERO

One of the most enjoyable films of 2003 is the new one from the director of RED SORGHUM, JU DOU, RAISE THE RED LANTERN and TO LIVE. It is scheduled for a November release in North America but a top quality import DVD with eng subs(except on features) is available. It stars Jet Li and the couple from IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE: Tony Leung and Maggie Cheung. The cinematography is by that Aussie genius Mr. Christopher Doyle. Anybody who enjoyed the merely good CROUCHING TIGER should come see Yimou give Ang Lee a lesson in mythmaking.

    Yimou

I recall Yimou's 50 second "lumiere" film was also astonishing- two radicals on the Great Wall...

"Lumiere and Company" would be a good dvd purchase eh? I have honestly no visual memory of it. I simply filed it in the Gotta See Again compartment you just opened. Thanks. BTW, Hero happens to end with a shot of the Great Wall.
