Yes, I know, and I've seen all the French ones but LE COEUR DES HOMMES 2, but that is a comedy sequel and probably not of much interest to us. I saw the mainstream French romantic comedy DETROMPEZ-VOUS last night and i will probably add that later but it's not very urgent.
What do I mean "all the French ones"?! Only two are French. That's not a very good sign, is it? But there are French art films that have been well reviewed, but are not popular. For example, two I've reviewed here:
Tout est pardonne/All Is Forgiven
and
Avant que j'oublie/Before I Forget
Showing at MK2 Hautefeuille (but not continually)
Le Deuxième souffle
Control
Tout est pardonné (Mia Hansen-Love)
Avant que j'oublie (Jacques Nolot)
Un homme perdu (Danielle Arbid)
Boarding gate (Olivier Assayas)
Syndromes and a Century (Joe the Thai guy)
Forest of Bliss (Robert Gardner 1986)
Les Climats (the Turkish one Nuri Bilge Ceylan)
Retribution (Kiyoshi Kurosawa)
If I stuck around long enough I could see em all. Some of them look pretty sexy. Of course I have seen Control. That's another one to watch for. Also This Is England was showing here somewhere else and I think that was one of the best this year. released in the US anyway, though it has the date 2006 on it.
